Lanor Logo & Motto
Lanor Junior Middle School is a public elementary middle school located at the west end of Lanor Avenue. When built in 1952 it was called Lanor Avenue School, then became Lanor Senior Public School, and then Lanor Public School. It was originally built for kindergaten to grade six. In 1984 when Franklin Horner Middle School closed, Lanor added grades 7 & 8 and was renamed Lanor Junior Middle School.
Today, around 400 children in Kindergarten through Grade 8 attend from the immediate and surrounding south Etobicoke area. They are joined by students from Sir Adam Beck in Grade 6. In 2017, Lanor was designated south Etobicoke's elementary school for the gifted intensive support program. Students accepted into the program join Lanor JMS in grade 4. Lanor's home high school is Lakeshore CI.
There are many sports teams & school clubs at Lanor for students of all ages. For the younger grades, intramural sport programs run through the year. Lanor's logo is a Lynx. Go Lanor Lynx 🐾!
Lanor is privileged to have the volunteer and community support to run a morning snack program. Lanor Morning Munch is run by volunteers and serves nutritious snacks to all 400 students EVERY morning to keep them fuelled for a full day of learning and activity.
Lanor JMS's motto is "Let Lanor Inspire You"
On-premise before (7:30-8:20am) and after school (2:45-6pm) childcare is run by Plasp childcare services. Visit the link for other options.
